Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a recent interview took a dig at Pakistan over the country’s nuclear defence, saying he has personally visited the neighbouring country and checked how powerful it is.
Reacting to senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s remark, PM Modi, in a recent interview to India TV, said, “Uss taakat ko mei khud Lahore jaakar check karke aaya hu (I had personally visited Pakistan to check how powerful it is).”
The prime minister was responding to Congress veteran Mani Shankar Aiyar who sparked a controversy after saying that India should engage in dialogue with Pakistan and not flex its military muscles as it may irk Islamabad into deploying nuclear weapons.

PM Modi recalled his visit to the Pakistani city of Lahore in 2015 said that when he visited Pakistan, many reporters questioned “Haye Allah toba, ye bina visa ke aa gaye (Oh my God, he has arrived to the country without a Visa).”
“I told them it was my country at some point of time,” PM Modi added.
