‘Paa’ To ‘Taare Zameen Par’: Five Movies To Watch On Global Parenting Day

The Global Day of Parents is celebrated on June 1 every year to honour parents, and thank them for their love, sacrifice, and selfless dedication toward their children. Though children should understand and acknowledge their parents’ love every day,  a special day gives all the more reason to spend time with parents and make them feel special. Here are a few movies that you could watch with your parents on Global Parenting Day:

‘Jawaani Jaaneman’ (2020)
Saif Ali khan starrer movie ‘Jawaani Janeman’ is a good option if you want to have a good laughter session. The carefree character loves to party and gets involved with women but his life changes when a pregnant girl claims to be his daughter. So now he doesn’t only have the pressure of becoming a parent but a grandparent too.

‘Good Newwz’ (2019)
This comical mix-up movie starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljeeth Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani is a great movie to watch when feeling low. The plot of this movie revolves around two entirely different couples who get pregnant via IVF Technology but the only catch is that there’s a mix-up of the sperms which results in the two women getting pregnant with the baby of each other’s husbands.

‘Home Alone’ (1990)
The movie’s main focus lies on how an 8-year-old boy Kevin McCallister who acts out a night before a family trip to Paris was made to sleep in the attic and was mistakenly left home alone by his parents independently protects his house from two con men who plan to rob the McCallister residence.

‘Everything, Everything’ (2017)
The story focuses on the life of 18-year-old girl Maddy. She’s smart and witty but her mom doesn’t allow her to go outside. Maddy has been diagnosed with an illness due to which she cannot leave the protection of her house.  Maddy starts talking to a guy Olly, who lives next door. Gazing through the windows and talking through texts, they fall in love with each other. However, the good times don’t last so long as her mother becomes aware of the growing relationship between Maddy and Olly. She becomes overprotective towards her daughter. Maddy is the only family she has and so she tries every possible way she can to protect her. But Maddy wants to have a perfect relationship with Olly and one perfect day which she could live to the fullest. So, the question is will Maddy leave everything to have that one perfect day?

‘Paa’ (2009)
Auro is a sharp and funny 13-year-old who has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic defect that accelerates aging. Auro’s mother (Vidhya Balan) is a gynecologist and he lives with his mother and grandmother. He gets an award from Amol Arte (Abhishek Bachhan) who’s a politician resulting in him and his family getting popular recognition. He writes an email to Amol Arte addressing the issue. He, later on, comes to know that Amol Arte is his actual father and that his birth was out of wedlock.

‘Taare Zameen Par’ (2007)
Ishaan (Darsheel Safari) is a young boy who gets criticised by his parents regularly for his poor academic performance. Until that one day when he is sent to boarding school where he meets Ram (Amir Khan), an art teacher who understands his condition and realises that Ishaan is dyslexic. He takes good care of Ishaan and helps him grow in every possible way as if he is his son.
