Ludhiana: City-based RTI activist Rohit Sabharwal has written to the Punjab chief secretary, seeking a vigilance inquiry into this case.
Referring to the findings of detailed inquiry report submitted by Rishipal Singh, additional commissioner MC, he mentioned that in the past five years, the civic body suffered loss worth crores of rupees during which 57,862 buildings were constructed without the issuance of any challan or approval of building plans by the MC.
He also claimed that the officials from top to bottom in the building branch did not cooperate in this inquiry as they had not performed their duty properly. Moreover, after inspecting the files of the challans issued in the last five years by the buildings inspectors, it was found out that among the total 11,441 challans issued, officials did not mention any category of 9,699 challans. Further, proper address has not been mentioned in the challan files.
Seeking a thorough probe into the issue, Rohit Sabharwal pointed out that more than two months have lapsed since the inquiry report was submitted to the municipal commissioner by the inquiry officer, but till now no action has been taken over this report.
