Apple and OpenAI confirmed their deal to bring ChatGPT to all its devices

Apple and OpenAI have signed a deal that brings ChatGPT to all mac and iPhone users with support for new features and more.

OpenAI has rolled out the ChatGPT app for all the macOS users. Earlier the feature was limited to the GPT Plus subscribers, but now all Mac users can download the app from their official website for free. Sharing a video on the microblogging site X, OpenAI wrote, “The ChatGPT app for macOS is now available for all users. Get faster access to ChatGPT to chat about email, screenshots, and anything on your screen with the Option + Space shortcut.”

The ChatGPT desktop app is only compatible with Macs powered by Apple Silicon and running on macOS 14+ or newer versions.

Users can launch ChatGPT via a simple keyboard command ‘Option+Space’ that opens the app from any screen on your Mac. The native app on Mac allows users to quickly take a screenshot of the entire or part of a screen and load it directly into the app to ask questions about it, according to Gadgets 360. Apart from that users can also upload files and photos. The AI feature can process those pictures using computer vision and answer any questions related to them.

According to 9To5Mac, the ChatGPT app for macOS lets the user easily interact with the chatbot.

For a hands-free experience, the app also allows users to interact with ChatGPT by using their voice through the Voice Mode feature. Also, the OpenAI will be rolling out an upgraded version of the ChatGPT Voice Mode with GPT-4o capabilities within the coming weeks, as per 9To5Mac.

Recently, during the WWDC 2024, Apple announced that ChatGPT access will be integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia allowing the users to access ChatGPT’s knowledge without having to switch between tools.

Additionally, ChatGPT will be available in Apple’s system wide Writing Tools, which help users generate content for anything they are writing about,” the company earlier said.

However, OpenAI has also said that the ChatGPT app will also be coming to Windows later this year. “We had planned to start rolling this out in alpha to a small group of ChatGPT Plus users in late June, but need one more month to reach our bar to launch,” said OpenAI.
