Biryani is the king of swiggy on New Year’s Eve. Citing sources, news agency PTI reported that on December 31, Swiggy ordered 3.5 lakh biryani across the country. The demand for condoms was also high on that day.
Biryani Zindabad
Citing sources, PTI reported that Swiggy delivered 3.5 lakh biryani across the country on Saturday. Not only that, more than 2.5 lakh pizzas have also been delivered. A source at Swiggy told PTI, ‘3.5 lakh orders came in for biryani. Which was one of the most delivered meals (on New Year’s Eve).’
According to the food delivery app company, a poll conducted on Twitter showed that 75.4 percent orders came in for Hyderabadi Biryani on New Year’s Eve. Next in the list were Lucknow Biryani (14.2 percent) and Kolkata Biryani (10.4 percent).
Two packets of biryani were delivered every minute on New Year’s Eve, PTI reported, citing sources at one of Hyderabad’s most popular biryani restaurants. A total of 15 tonnes of biryani was produced to meet the demand on 31 December 2022.
India has fun with pizza and chips
A tweet from Swiggy at 10:25 pm on Saturday said, ‘Dominos India, 61,287 pizzas delivered. Just think how many packets of oregano go with those.’ In the end, more than 2.5 lakh pizzas were delivered on Saturday, PTI quoted Swiggy sources as saying. Also, 1.76 lakh packets of chips have been supplied till 7 pm on Saturday.
High demand for condoms
On the last day of 2022, the demand for condoms was not at all low. According to data from Swiggy’s grocery delivery company Swiggy Instagram, 2,757 packages of Durex condoms were delivered. Along with this, the company was jokingly requested to order another 4,212 packets.
The demand for khichuri is also not low
According to a PTI report, 12,344 people in India had ordered khichuri till 9:18 pm on Saturday. Meanwhile, Swiggy CEO Sriharsh Majeti said on Saturday evening, ‘The party has started fast. We have already placed 15 lakh orders. It is ongoing. Our forces and partner restaurants are ready to make this New Year’s Eve unforgettable. Special advice – order early to avoid the rush.’
