‘OMG 2’ Director Amit Rai Says ‘Uncut Version’ Of Akshay Kumar Starrer Will Be Released On OTT

New Delhi: At the moment, OMG 2 is making money at the box office. In a recent interview with PTI, director Amit Rai expressed his “heartbreak” at the A certificate the movie obtained and shared that it would remain in its entirety on OTT.

Talking to news agency PTI, Amit Rai said, “We were heartbroken because we made the film for everyone to watch, now that cannot happen. We begged them to give us a U/A certificate (children below 12 years of age can watch a film under parental guidance) but they didn’t. We tried to convince them till the very end… But then they walked some distance, we walked some distance. The film has been released with modifications…”

On being asked if the OTT version would be released without any cuts, the director said, “We are happy people have loved the film. The intent of the film was pure. Nobody wanted to titillate the audience, hence they liked it.”

Earlier this month, ‘OMG 2’ ran into difficulties with the CBFC board. It was reported that the picture was analysed in light of complaints made against the Prabhas-starring movie ‘Adipurush’, which came out in June of this year. After several weeks of speculations, the movie was finally given an A certificate with 27 cuts. The makers of the video, which is about sex education and tries to educate youngsters, reportedly also said they sought a UA certificate. For the film’s eventual theatrical release, they ultimately had to settle for an A certificate.

Along with Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ and Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’, which both had strong box office debuts, ‘OMG 2’ was also released. The movie, which stars Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi, explores the state of sex education in Indian schools. In the critically acclaimed movie, Akshay portrays a messenger of Lord Shiva.
