Odisha government has announced launching of ‘Mo Ghara’ scheme to convert kutcha houses into pucca houses. The housing scheme was approved by the Odisha cabinet “to meet the aspiration of the lower and lower middle income households of rural Odisha,” said the state government in a statement.
The scheme will cover all such families who were left out in the existing housing schemes due to stringent eligibility criteria or due to insufficient allocation and also those who had received housing assistance of smaller amounts in the past and now want to upgrade or expand their houses, it added.
Government Housing Assistance in Rural Areas, (Mo Ghara) is a credit linked housing scheme with capital subsidy fully funded by the state government, the statement read, adding that it aims at construction/extension/up-gradation/completion of houses.
Under the scheme, a beneficiary can avail housing loan upto Rs. 3 Lakh which can be repaid in 10 years excluding 1 year moratorium period in easy instalments. They can opt for one of the four slabs of the loan amount – Rs.1 Lakh, 1.5 Lakh,2 Lakh and 3 Lakh.
As per the Odisha government a family staying in a kutcha house or one pucca house with RCC roof and has income below Rs 25,000 per month will be eligible for the scheme.
Applications for the scheme can be submitted till June 16 on the dedicated web portal at rhodisha.gov.in/moghara and will be validated through OTP.
During filing of application, the applicant will furnish information along with documents like passport size photo, Aadhaar card, KYC document (Voter lD, PAN card, job card, driving license), caste certificate, PwD certificate, income certificate, and land record.
