Some pages of a book are going viral on social media. In this, many objectionable things have been written regarding dowry. In one paragraph it is even written that ‘Ugly girls get married with handsome boys with the help of dowry’.

Women are expressing their anger over the book on social media. They are calling it anti-women and anti-constitution. Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has also raised her voice against this book. He also appealed to the Union Education Minister to intervene in this.
Indian Nursing Council has left the book
After the controversy escalated, the Indian Nursing Council (INC) issued a notification and distanced itself from the book and the author. In its notification, the council said that they do not endorse any such book or content. The INC has also talked about following the laws of the country.
Priyanka said – it is a matter of shame, education minister should take action
Priyanka Chaturvedi called it disrespectful and shameful for women. He also appealed to the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to remove such books from the circulation immediately. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “It is shameful for the country and the Constitution to have such books in our curriculum.”
The writer enumerated the benefits of dowry
In the second year book ‘Textbook of Sociology for Nurses’, author TK Indrani has enumerated the benefits of dowry from one side. He has tried to justify the dowry system in many points. In one point, he wrote that ‘TV available in dowry, freeze helps in settling the household.’ In one such point, he has written that ‘parents educate their daughters only in the greed of giving less dowry. In the most controversial part of the book, he has written that with the help of dowry, ugly girls get married easily.
Dowry system is still a curse for the country
A law was made against the dowry system in the country in 1961 itself. But it continues unabated in the society even today. The think tank ‘Indian Council of Applied Economic Research’ conducted research on 40,000 marriages that took place between 1961 and 2008. Research has found that in 95% of these marriages, dowry was given by the girl’s side.
According to the data of National Crime Bureau of India, about 7 thousand daughters are killed every year in the country for dowry. That is, 20 girls are killed every day in the greed of dowry.
