Noida Airport To Get Its Own Aerocity And Sports Park? | Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: On the lines of Delhi’s Aerocity but on a much larger scale, an Aerotropolis with commercial and residential spaces would come up around the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar.

Aerotropolis is basically a metropolitan sub-region whose infrastructure, land use and economy are centred around an airport. The proposal to develop the area around the Jewar airport was announced by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) at a meeting on the region’s Master Plan 2041 on Monday.
While Aerocity in Delhi has largely commercial spaces, Aerotropolis will cater to both residential and industrial needs and have state-of-the-art infrastructure, a senior official said. “It will come up on the other side of the airport with the Yamuna Expressway passing through them,” the official added.
For holding international sports events in the future, a proposal was also made to develop an “Olympic Park and Olympic Village” in the master plan. Moreover, a golf course, a central business centre, and logistics hubs will also be part of the master plan to be executed by 2041, the official said.
“There is no such space in Delhi-NCR. It will be a major sporting hub with a capability of holding Olympics and similar international events,” he said.
The consultant entrusted with preparing the detailed project report, Mars Planning Engineering Services, also proposed multiple land use (hospitality and industries) in the vicinity of the airport. Along with industries, the Authority also plans to build affordable houses for workers in the vicinity of industries.
All these future developments will take place in areas of Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahr surrounding the airport. Land would be acquired as and when the project details are approved, the official added.
YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh directed the consultant to include concepts like zero-carbon footprint and smart city while developing the master plan. The construction of the upcoming airport is going on at a rapid speed with the first flight slated to take place by 2024.
Notably, YEIDA has recently announced plans to develop a heritage circuit within a 30km radius of Noida International Airport.
The Authority plans to appoint the Indian Trust of Rural Heritage and Development (ITRHD) for preparing a DPR for works that can be carried out in nearby villages with the focus on local tradition, food and culture. The proposal will be placed in the next board meeting for approval.
