In Haryana Panchayat elections, BJP is shying away from contesting on the election symbol lotus flower. This is the reason that in the first phase of Zilla Parishad elections, in only 3 districts, the party will fight on its symbol. BJP will enter the election fray without a symbol in 6 districts. In the first phase, elections are to be held in 9 districts.

Voting for Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members is to be held on 30 October and for Panch-Sarpanch on 2 November. The district units of Panchkula, Yamunanagar and Nuh have given this information to the state leadership. 3 major reasons have come to the fore to keep distance from the symbols of the remaining 6 districts.

3 reasons not to contest elections on symbols

1. Due to the large number of candidates in these districts, they do not want to use symbols in the elections. If one leader is given a symbol, the others will get angry. At the same time, only the winner without a symbol can tell his candidate.

2. If he contests elections without a symbol, he can also get voters of other parties. These elections are at the local level, in such a situation, there is no restriction of partying in front of the candidate, that is why the BJP has backtracked from the symbol.

3. Peasant movement is also a big reason. If its effect is shown in the villages, then because of the symbol, the BJP will be opposed and they will not get votes. In such a situation, there is bound to be a political loss.

There has been a setback in the municipal and municipal elections
Haryana had elections to 46 municipalities a few months back. Of these, the BJP had won 22 municipalities. On the other hand, alliance partner JJP had won in three civic bodies.

JJP is also on the path of BJP
Like the BJP, the alliance partner JJP has also left the decision to fight on the Zilla Parishad election symbol to the district units. However, both the parties have decided not to contest the election of Gram Panch, Sarpanch and Block Samiti members of Panchayati Raj Institutions on the party symbol. The main opposition party Congress will not contest any election on the symbol of Panch, Sarpanch, Block Committee member and Zilla Parishad member.

50% quota for women in Yamunanagar
In Yamunanagar district, 50% of the total 18 seats in the Zilla Parishad are reserved for women. There are a total of 22 districts in the state and election schedules for 18 districts have already been announced.

In Haryana, the original residence is not necessary for Panch-Sarpanch: Candidate’s name in the voter list is enough; State Election Commission gave instructions
