No large gatherings, DJs, Section 144: States impose new curbs amid Omicron threat | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: As Omicron cases steadily rise across the country, several states have started imposing new restrictions to stop the spread.
The Centre on Tuesday asked states to activate war rooms and bring back curbs, including night curfews, strict restrictions on large gatherings, curbing numbers at weddings, funerals, restricting attendance in offices and public transport.
District administrations have also been asked to keep a close watch on numbers and proactively analyse trends and surges.
Here are new restrictions imposed by several states:
Mumbai
The BMC ordered that prior approval from the local disaster management authority is mandatory for any gathering, even in an open space, for 200 or more until further orders.
Local ward officers should send their “representatives” to check if rules related to Covid-19 appropriate behaviour are being followed strictly at such programs.
In case of any programme function/gathering/wedding/ party meeting, activity or happening whether, social, religious or political takes place in enclosed/closed spaces, people up to 50% of the capacity of the space will be allowed.
In open spaces, people up to 25% of the capacity of the space will be allowed.
Delhi
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has directed district magistrates to ensure no Christmas and New Year gathering takes place in the national capital.
It ordered the district magistrates (DMs) to identify potential Covid-19 superspreader areas ahead of Christmas and New Year.
The district magistrates and deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) have also been directed to tighten the enforcement machinery to ensure that people follow social-distancing norms and wear masks.
DMs and DCPs shall deploy a sufficient number of enforcement teams on the field for keeping utmost vigil at public places to enforce strict adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour.
Karnataka
The Karnataka government banned large gatherings for New Year celebrations from December 30 to January 2.
As far as clubs and pubs are concerned, DJ music and special events are not allowed.
There will be no DJs or parties in apartment complexes.
Prayers in the church are allowed. Church authorities should ensure that social-distancing rules are followed.
Haryana
Those who are not fully vaccinated will not be allowed at public places after January 1 – marriage hall, hotel, bank, any mall, any government office, bus.
Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow Police has invoked Section 144 CrpC in Lucknow district from December 7 till January 5.
Section 144 CrPC has also been implemented in Gautam Buddh Nagar till December 31, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police had said in a circular.
Gujarat
The Gujarat government has extended the night curfew in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar and Junagadh cities for 10 more days, from December 1 to December 10.
Commercial establishments such as APMCs, shops and beauty salons, in these cities can operate till 12 am, while restaurants can remain open till midnight with 75 per cent occupancy, and home delivery and take-away services are also permitted till midnight.
Cinema halls can function with 100 per cent capacity in the entire state.
Not more than 400 people can attend weddings and religious or political functions in the first 10 days of December, and 100 people can take part in funeral processions.
