Nitesh Tiwari Thinks His ‘Ramayana’ Will Not Offend Anyone Amid ‘Adipurush Backlash

New Delhi: Any Indian director who wants to make a Ramayan-based movie is going to find it challenging after Adipurush. It will be challenging for any filmmaker to produce a movie based on the mythological epic anytime soon, but it appears like Nitesh Tiwari is moving through with his goal to bring it to the big screen despite the numerous controversies that surfaced shortly after the premiere of the Om Raut movie. In a recent interview, the director of Dangal discussed his movie and its casting in detail.

During an interview with Zoom entertainment, Nitesh Tiwari was asked about taking the daring step to come up with his mythological drama in light of the response that Prabhas starrer ‘Adipurush’ got, the filmmaker said, “My question is very simple. I am also a consumer of the content that I create and if I’m not going to offend myself than I’m very confident that I might not end up offending anybody else.”

It is rumoured that power couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will play the principal characters of Sita and Ram in the film. However, there has been no official announcement regarding the cast, yet. When Nitesh was asked about it, he said that the announcement with all the details would be made “Very Soon.”

Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan’s Adipurush received negative reviews when it was released in theatres in June. The film’s visual effects and Manoj Muntashir’s dialogues received harsh criticism soon after its debut. Although the film’s creators rewrote the dialogue after the first weekend, the harm had already been done because successive weeks saw a continued decline in footfalls and box office collection.

Lyricist Manoj Muntashir later took to his social media handles to apologise for hurting people’s sentiments through the film’s dialogues. He wrote, “I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation.🙏”
