NIT Calicut Revokes Suspension Of Dalit Student Who Protested Ayodhya Event After Widespread Protest

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut, imposed a year-long suspension on Vyasakh Premkumar, a fourth-year BTech student and Dalit, who had protested against the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Dean of Students’ Welfare cited his involvement in allegedly provoking an ‘unlawful’ gathering on January 22 which resulted in ‘campus unrest’ as the reason for the suspension.

The authorities clarified that the decision to revoke the suspension will stand until a hearing on the petition filed by Vysakh.

According to ANI, KSU & SFI workers clashed with police after they protested against the director of NIT Calicut over the suspension of an SFI activist student (01/02). A student was suspended by NIT Calicut for protesting against the Ayodhya Ram temple inauguration, on 22nd January.
