In the NIRF 2024 engineering rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras retained its tag of the best engineering college for the ninth consecutive year. It was followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, which secured the second and third ranks, respectively. IIT Kanpur came in fourth, while IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee occupied the fifth and sixth positions.
Jadavpur University, which was in the top ten in 2023, dropped out of the top ten in 2024, making way for IIT (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi, which entered the top ten in the tenth position this year.
IIT Madras bagging the top rank for the sixth time in a row is a validation of the institute’s dedication to producing world-class talent and driving impactful research, its director V Kamakoti said on Monday.
