The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting raids in 5 states across the country. The raids were conducted at 40 locations in Delhi, Patna, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Punjab. According to the news agency, this raid has been done to eliminate terrorists, gangsters and drug smugglers and emerging nexus based in India and abroad.

According to media reports, this action has also been taken on the locations of people associated with many gangs including Lawrence Bishnoi, Neeraj Bawana in Punjab. Apart from this, raids were conducted on the premises of Popular Front of India (PFI) in Phulwari Sharif, Patna.

Earlier on October 14, the investigating agency had conducted searches at several places including Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the drone delivery case. According to the NIA, no arrest has been made so far in the case.

NIA raids the hideout of gangster Naresh Sethi in Jhajjar, Haryana. The investigating agency reached Naresh Sethi’s house along with the police at 4 am on Tuesday. Sethi’s illegal assets and bank details were searched. His family members were also questioned. Gangster Sethi has been involved in many other serious cases including murder, ransom. He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. At the same time, NIA raided the house of Jagga Jandian village of Bathinda, Punjab.

106 arrested in NIA raid on PFI last month
In September, the NIA raided 93 PFI locations in 15 states. In this action being taken in the Terror funding case, 106 members of PFI have been arrested. Organization chief Oma Salam was also among those arrested. These PFI leaders, cadres are people giving money for terrorism and terrorist activities, training to use weapons. These used to radicalize people to join banned organizations. During the raid, 500 officers of NIA and ED were involved in the search operation.
