NIA-ED’s action on PFI locations: Raids continue in 13 states since midnight; Chief Oma Salam Arrest

After the action of NIA, PFI workers in many states including Kerala-Karnataka raised slogans against the central agency.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on several locations of Popular Front of India (PFI) in 11 states from midnight on Thursday, which is continuing till now. In this action being taken in the Terror funding case, 106 members of PFI have been arrested in these states. According to media reports, organization chief Oma Salam is also among those arrested.

This action of NIA is going on in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry and Rajasthan. In this, the ED and the state police are also with the NIA. According to sources, about 200 NIA officers are carrying out this raid.

This list is being circulated on social media. It has been claimed that the NIA along with the ED and the state police have arrested 106 people from 11 states.

PFI leader Qasimi gave controversial statement
On September 18, during a rally in Kozhikode, Kerala, PFI leader Afzal Qasimi had said – Sangh Parivar and government people are trying to suppress us, but whenever there is a threat to Islam, we will not back down from giving martyrdom. Qasimi said- This is the second fight for freedom and Muslims have to be ready for jihad.

In Kerala in 2010, college professor TJ Joseph had come under the scanner of fundamentalists. Professor Joseph had written the name ‘Mohammed’ in the question paper prepared for the examination.
