After the action of NIA, PFI workers in many states including Kerala-Karnataka raised slogans against the central agency.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on several locations of Popular Front of India (PFI) in 11 states from midnight on Thursday, which is continuing till now. In this action being taken in the Terror funding case, 106 members of PFI have been arrested in these states. According to media reports, organization chief Oma Salam is also among those arrested.

This action of NIA is going on in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry and Rajasthan. In this, the ED and the state police are also with the NIA. According to sources, about 200 NIA officers are carrying out this raid.

PFI workers took to the road in protest against the raid
PFI workers are protesting against this raid by NIA, ED and state police. Workers of the organization have come out on the streets in many places including Mallapuram in Kerala, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Mangaluru in Karnataka. PFI has issued a statement saying that this action is being taken to suppress the voice. The central agency is harassing us.

Organization is banned in Jharkhand, also on the radar of the Center

PFI is currently banned only in Jharkhand on the charge of spreading communalism in the society. Against this the organization has also appealed in the court. In Kerala in 2010, college professor TJ Joseph had come under the scanner of fundamentalists. Professor Joseph had written the name ‘Mohammed’ in the question paper prepared for the examination. Popular Front India (PFI) was formed in 2007 by Manitha Niti Pasarai (MNP) and an organization named National Development Fund (NDF). Initially this organization was active only in the states of South India, but now it has expanded to 20 states including UP-Bihar.
