According to sources, NGT will constitute a committee of 3 to 5 people in this. Who will investigate from where and how the gas leak happened?

1. Deaths due to gas leak in the morning: Gas leaked in Ludhiana on April 30 at around 7 am in Gyaspura area. Its center point was a grocery store and milk booth named Goyal Cold Drinks. The store owner couple and their mother died due to gas leak. Whereas, the death of Kavilash, his wife and 3 children, who ran Aarti Clinic nearby, ended the entire family. 11 people died in this gas leak.

2. Administration expressed suspicion of gas from sewerage manhole : DC Surbhi Malik and Police Commissioner Mandeep Sidhu reached there after the gas leak incident. He expressed apprehension that poisonous gas has leaked from the sewerage line passing through here itself. The main reason for this was that there was no effect on the lungs of those who died, but death was due to the effect of poison on their brain. After this the NDRF team filled the samples from the manhole. In which hydrogen sulphide gas was found. It is suspected that the deaths have taken place due to this.

3. SIT formed for investigation: A 5-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the Ludhiana gas leak. This committee is formed under the leadership of SDM Swati Tiwana. In which Joint Commissioner of Corporation, ACP of Zone Two, SE of Pollution Board and Deputy Director Factories have been included. Apart from this, the technical team of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) is auditing the waste of all the factories.

Have expressed grief from PM to President
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and President Draupadi Murmu have also expressed grief over the 11 deaths in the Ludhiana gas leak case. PM Modi announced Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to the heirs of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to those affected by the gas. Earlier, the Punjab government has also announced compensation of the same amount.
