Next iPhone SE May Launch With Dynamic Island, Fresh Leak Suggests

Contrary to previous speculations from 2023 suggesting Apple’s discontinuation of the affordable line, iPhone SE, recent reports in December hinted at the resurrection of the iPhone SE with the use of the iPhone 14’s battery for the upcoming iPhone SE 4. Prior to this, leaked renders hinted at a next-gen model resembling the design of the iPhone XR, including the notch feature. Now, a fresh rumour suggests that the upcoming iPhone SE will ditch the notch entirely, opting instead for the Dynamic Island cutout along with various functionalities, a feature initially introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, according to Majin Bu, who has been posting credible leaks.

The Dynamic Island also made way to the non-Pro iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus last year.

“Based on what has been reported to me, the iPhone SE could have a design very similar to that of the current iPhone 16 still in development. The new iPhone SE will most likely have a single camera instead of the double one of the iPhone 16 models, otherwise it seems that the dynamic island is confirmed, and the dimensions are similar to those of an iPhone XR. Take this news as a possible rumor since it is still early to talk and have certainties about it,” Majin Bu posted on X, formerly Twitter.

The image above provides a glimpse of what this design change in the purported iPhone SE entails. It seems the SE will retain a single rear camera while embracing the contemporary iPhone design. Interestingly, the new SE might share many aesthetic similarities with the upcoming Apple iPhone 16. Additionally, the SE’s dimensions are expected to closely resemble those of the iPhone XR.

The source of these leaks advises caution, and asks to take the information with a pinch of salt. Historically, Apple has released a new SE model every two years, with the last one debuting in March 2022. While this suggests a new model should be imminent, the absence of substantial leaks indicates that Apple may still be in the process of finalising the next SE model.
