Ranbir Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor were winners in the Extraordinary Performance (Popular) for Animal and Bawaal respectively at News18 Showsha Reel Awards.
The News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2024 was a grand affair. The big night saw some prominent faces from the industry bag awards for their exemplary work in the past few years. Ranbir Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor were honoured with the Extraordinary Performance Popular Choice, Male and Female, respectively.
Ranbir Kapoor was adjudged the Extraordinary Performance (Male) for his role in Animal. In the film, Ranbir portrayed the role of Ranvijay Singh, the son of a wealthy and influential industrialist. Longing for his father’s affection throughout his childhood, he returns to India and undergoes a remarkable transformation, consumed by a quest for vengeance against those who pose a threat to his father’s life.
The performance fetched Ranbir a lot of praise and Animal, big numbers at the box office. Fans praised Ranbir’s portrayal of the son dealing with ‘daddy issues’ and social media buzzed with rave reviews for how Ranbir Kapoor excels at bringing such roles to life.
On the other hand, Janhvi Kapoor was adjudged the Extraordinary Performance (Female) for her role in Bawaal. The stunning actress was present on the awards night to collect the honour.
In the film, Janhvi portrays a young woman, Nisha, suffering from epilepsy, who faces neglect and emotional abuse from her husband, portrayed by Varun Dhawan. Bawaal, a romantic drama set during World War 2, had Varun playing a history teacher who takes Janhvi’s character, Nisha, on a journey to Europe to explore sites related to the war. Janhvi’s nuanced portrayal of the character fetched her a lot of positive reviews from the audience and critics alike.
