‘Never disrespected India on foreign soil’, Rahul Gandhi claimed in London

Rahul Gandhi’s speech at Cambridge University has sparked a storm of criticism in the country. BJP is complaining that Rahul Gandhi is dishonoring the country by standing abroad. In this atmosphere, in a conversation with journalists in London, Rahul Gandhi denied this ‘allegation’ against him. He said, ‘I have never disrespected India standing on foreign soil.’ Rahul said, ‘I did not say anything to denigrate India in my Cambridge speech. Earlier, the Prime Minister went abroad and announced that nothing has been done in 70 years of independence. He said that in 10 years there has been unlimited corruption in India and the country has lost a decade. He does not say these things in India. He said these things abroad.’ (Read more: ‘Soros doesn’t have to say…’ Rahul opened his mouth about the anti-Modi US billionaire)

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘I have never insulted my country. I’m not interested in doing that either and I never will. Of course BJP likes to twist my words and serve. That’s right. And media likes to portray me like that because of TRP. But the fact is, the person who goes abroad and defames India, is the current Prime Minister of India.’ Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi brought up the BBC issue during a discussion with journalists in London. He said, ‘The way voice control is going on in India, the BBC incident is an example of that. Adani incident is also similar to this. It’s so colonial.’ It should be noted that for the past several days, the politics of the country has been stirred up due to the BBC’s documentary on the Gujarat riots. There was also a stir when student organizations organized the screening of the documentary in various universities. In this atmosphere, when Rahul Gandhi was asked about the Income Tax Department’s survey at the BBC office, he said, ‘Wherever the voice of conflict has been heard in the country, there has also been an excuse. The journey I took was to encourage free speech. Because the voice is being suppressed everywhere in the country. An example of this is the BBC.’ Rahul Gandhi said, ‘If the BBC stops speaking against the government, everything will go back to where I was before. Everything will be normal.’

The Congress leader said, ‘This trend of suppressing voices has been going on continuously for the last 9 years. Journalists are being threatened and intimidated. I don’t expect anything else from this government. If the BBC stopped broadcasting anti-government news today, everything would be back to normal. This is the concept of new India. BJP wants to keep India speechless. BJP wants to silence the people of India so that they can grab all the resources of the country from their friends.’
