‘Nehra is Prime Minister of Britain’, flood of ‘memes’ on Twitter as Rishi makes history

This is the first time in British history that an Indian-origin politician has become the Prime Minister. Indian former cricketer Ashish Nehra started ‘trending’ on social media on the day of Diwali. Ashish and Rishi’s facial similarities have flooded social media with memes.

A Twitter user named Rahul Burman posted a video of Ashish Nehra dancing and wrote, ‘Ashish Nehraji Greetings. After winning the IPL, he became the Prime Minister of Britain. A Twitter user named DJ Singh posted a picture of Rishi and Ashish side by side and wrote, ‘Definitely Ashish Nehra and Rishi Sunak are the two lost brothers at the Kumbh Mela.’ Ashish Nehra posted a picture of Virat Kohli with a guy named Gaurang Bhardwa from his early days, when Virat was still a school student. Virat Kohli is seen receiving an award from Ashish Nehra at an event in the film. Gaurang wrote in the caption, ‘Virat Kohli with Rishi Sunak.’ Meanwhile Kaustab Dasgupta Nak wrote, ‘Congratulations to Ashish Nehra for becoming British Prime Minister. Now bring Kohinoor home.’

Meanwhile, Rishi and Ashish used Nehra’s facial resemblance to hatch a plan to return Kohinoor to India. A Twitter user named Ramudu wrote, ‘I have a plan to bring Kohinoor back to the country. Let Rishi Sunak be invited to India when he becomes British Prime Minister. When he goes to meet his in-laws in Bangalore, he will face traffic jams. And then let him be kidnapped. Then Ashish Nehra should be sent as British Prime Minister in his place. Then let the British Parliament pass the bill regarding the return of Kohinoot.’ Meanwhile, Abhish’s Manu Singhvi wrote in a tweet, ‘If Narayan and Sudha Murthy visited number 10 (10 Downing Street), then it can be called Tinmurthy (Rishi’s wife Akshtar Murthy) building.’
