With thousands of tweets, #NEETPGResults is trending on the social media platform X. The NEET PG 2024 results were declared on August 23, 2024 and counselling schedule is expected to be released soon. Following the announcement, students have alleged discrepancies in their results. Many claim they received significantly lower ranks than expected. Notably, this year, the exam was conducted in two shifts, and normalisation was applied. Students are raising concerns over the normalisation process and have taken to social media to voice their issues.
Many students have compared their answers with unofficial answer keys provided by coaching institutes. Dissatisfied with their marks, they are demanding that the NBE release the raw and normalised scores, as well as the official answer key.
Talking to ABP LIVE, Dr Vivek Pandey said, “NEET PG is facing renewed scrutiny due to alleged inconsistencies in various question sets and the normalisation process. Students and experts are calling on the NBE to release the official answer keys, provide a detailed explanation of the normalisation procedure, and disclose the raw scores for each candidate. Transparency in these areas is seen as essential to ensure fairness and restore confidence in the examination process.”
An aspirant, Toni, said, ‘Based on the unofficial answer key, I expected to score 520 marks. I got a rank of 34 thousand, but it should have been under 20 thousand at least. I was so happy and confident after the exam based on my recall, but then came this normalised result. No one is listening, and no one is there to help.”
“People take two-year drops to prepare for NEET PG, only to be scammed by NBE again! We want transparency in whatever abnormalisation you’ve done! You can’t fairly judge a competitive exam by conducting it in two shifts with different difficulty levels—two shifts are a disaster.” an aspirant Dr. Keerthana wrote on X.
Another PG aspirant, Dr. Bheekam, took to X and wrote, ‘The NBE owes it to the candidates to provide a transparent and detailed explanation of the normalisation process used. If any discrepancies or anomalies are found, the NBE must take immediate corrective action, including re-declaring the results.”
