NEET PG Round 3 Counselling: Candidates who are already registered need not register again. However, they will be allowed to edit their choices
With the recent announcement by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to reduce the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2023 to ‘zero’, fresh registrations will begin today, September 22 for the round 3 counselling process. Medical graduates from all categories who took the NEET PG can now participate in the counselling process.
The last date to apply is Sept 25. The choice filling and locking process too will be held during this period. Candidates who are already registered need not register again. However, they will be allowed to edit their choices. The round 3 seat allotment result will be announced on Sept 28 and candidates will have to report to the colleges between Sept 29 and October 6.
The decision to reduce the qualifying criteria to zero was made to ensure that no PG medical seat goes vacant, MCC had said. “It is for the information to candidates that vide Letter No. U-12021/07/2023-MEC (Pt-I) dated 20.09.2023 (Copy attached below), the qualifying percentile for PG Courses (Medical) for NEET PG Counselling 2023 has been reduced to ‘ZERO’ across all categories by MoHFW,” read the official notice.
The MCC’s decision to reduce the NEET PG 2023 counselling qualifying percentile to ‘zero’ left several medical graduates disappointed. Some users of X (formerly Twitter) called it a mockery of the whole system while some said even negative marks can get one a PG medical seat.
Before the zero percentile cut off policy, the NEET PG cut-off was set at 50 per cent for general/unreserved category students, 45 per cent for students with disabilities (PwD), and 40 per cent for students who belong to other reserved groups.
