In the competition, Neeraj covered a distance of 88.39 meters in his very first attempt and made it to the final. The champion of the Tokyo Olympics was expected to become the first male athlete to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships, and the first male athlete to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships.

Made a place in the final by making the third best throw of the career

Apart from 24-year-old Neeraj, 34 other athletes participated in the competition. Everyone was placed in two groups. Neeraj was in the first group and Rohit was placed in group B. Neeraj made the third best throw of his career and made it to the final. He threw 89.30m at Pavo Nurmi, Finland on 14 June and 89.94m in Stockholm Diamond League on 30 June. He missed 90 meters by just 6 centimeters. He won the title by throwing the 86.69m javelin at Kuortane in Finland.

Celebration in Neeraj’s family

Neeraj’s mother Saroj Devi said that she is very happy. Talked to my son 15 days ago. He was busy working hard. The son has got the fruits of his hard work. We were sure that he would win a medal in this event too, be it silver or gold. Its very happy and now she will distribute sweets in the whole village. Neeraj has no plans for marriage yet
