Dr Taware of Sassoon Hospital has been arrested for allegedly manipulating the blood report of the 17-year-old teen driver

A letter allegedly from NCP MLA Sunil Tingre, who has been accused of trying to influence the Pune Porsche case, surfaced on social media wherein had requested a Maharashtra minister to appoint Dr Ajay Taware the medical superintendent of the Sassoon Hospital. Dr Taware of Sassoon Hospital has been arrested for allegedly manipulating the blood report of the 17-year-old teen driver.

Sharing a letter posted by a user on microblogging site X, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “When corrupt party MLAs elected to serve the people end up serving murderous VIPs. These are MLAs who are part of the (illegal) government. Whether Tingre or Mushrif or Taware… all have only misused their positions.”

The teen accused, who was involved in a car crash in the city’s Kalyani Nagar that killed two motorbike-borne software engineers on May 19, was taken to Sassoon Hospital for a medical check-up after the accident.

According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the juvenile’s blood sample was thrown away and was replaced with another person’s sample.

Both Dr Tawre and Dr Halnor, who were arrested by cops earlier in the day, along with another employee of Sassoon Hospital Atul Ghatakmalbe, have been sent to police custody till May 30.

“On 19th May, at around 11 am the blood sample which was taken at Sassoon Hospital was thrown in a dustbin of the hospital and the blood sample of another person was taken and sent to the forensic lab…Chief Medical Officer Srihari Halnor replaced this blood sample. During the investigation, we found Srihari Halnor replaced this on the instructions of the Head of the Forensic Medicine Department of Sassoon, Ajay Tawre,” the Police Commissioner said.
