NCB arrests 6 drug smugglers: 15000 LSD packets seized, highest in 20 years; used to deal with dark web

The NCB has also seized 2.5 kg of marijuana and Rs 4.65 lakh in cash at the instance of the suspects.

The Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday arrested six gang members involved in drug smuggling in the country. 15,000 LSD drug blots (pouches or packets) have been recovered from them. NCB has called it the biggest seizure in 20 years. The arrested smugglers used to deal through dark web. At the same time, the delivery of drugs was done through courier service.

Deputy DG Gyaneshwar Singh said that 2.5 kg of marijuana and Rs 4.65 lakh in cash have also been seized at the instance of the suspects. At the same time, 20 lakh rupees have also been seized from their bank accounts.

Only 0.1 gram of LSD is allowed for commercial use
Dnyaneshwar Singh told that LSD or Lysergic Acid Diethylamide is a synthetic drug, which is very dangerous. Only 0.1 gram of this drug has been allowed for commercial use. The amount of LSD recovered from the smugglers is two and a half thousand times more than the commercially used drug.

Earlier, Karnataka Police and Kolkata NCB made the biggest seizure of LSD in a single operation in 2021-2022, in which 5000 blots or pouches were found.

The network was spread in many countries
According to the Deputy DG, this network was spread across Poland, Netherlands, USA, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. Delhi Zonal Team busted this gang with the help of several units.

All the suspects arrested in the case used to do all the transactions virtually. They used to negotiate deals through private messaging apps. They used cryptocurrencies and the darknet for transactions.

Dnyaneshwar Singh told that LSD is very popular among the youth. Most of the people involved in this network are educated and young. Earlier in the year 2021, we arrested 40 accused in the drug smuggling case and busted 3 dark net sites.
