New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday interacted with personnel of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Indian Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) who were involved in the over 40-hour long rescue operation following a ropeway mishap in Jharkhand’s Deoghar that concluded on Tuesday.
During the session, the Prime Minister also intracted with local administration and civil society officials involved in the rescue ops.
PM Modi, who firstly praised all the officials for their commendable efforts to bring back all 60 tourists safely from the mountains, also took their feedback on the rescue operation.
“Over the course of 3 days, you worked round the clock and completed a difficult operation. You saved the lives of several citizens. The entire country has appreciated your efforts. Though we are sad that the lives of some people could not be saved,” PM Modi said.
You completed a difficult rescue operation by taking 24 hours for three days and you have saved the lives of many countrymen.

“The nation is proud that it has capable forces in the form of Army, Air Force, NDRF, ITBP and Police that has the strength to bring out the people from every crisis. We too learnt lessons from the accident and rescue mission. Your experience will be useful for future,” he added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who also attended the session, also congratulated all the officials of NDRF, Air Force, ITBP, Army and district administration who were involved in the rescue operations.
“I congratulate and thank all representatives of NDRF, Air Force, ITBP, Army and district administration as was a very difficult ops which they carried out patiently. So many agencies, with good coordination, carried out the operation in such a short period of time with minimum loss,” Shah said.
Three persons died while several others were injured after stranded cable cars hung midair near the Trikut Hills in Deoghar on Sunday evening.
The tragic accident took place after two cable cars collided midair due to some technical snag, leading to a massive rescue operation that lasted for nearly two days.
