“Nahi mila (didn’t receive)” was the response Soren received when Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren asked schoolgirls about funds disbursed for cycles under the tribal welfare scheme. A video of the Jharkhand CM interacting with schoolgirls went viral on the internet

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren got a reality check when he enquired schoolgirls about welfare schemes launched by the ruling JMM government in the state.

“Nahi mila (didn’t receive)” was the response Soren received when he asked schoolgirls about funds disbursed for cycles under the tribal welfare scheme. A video of the Jharkhand CM interacting with schoolgirls went viral on the internet.

In the video, the Jharkhand CM asked whether the girls received the money for the cycle, to which, the girls responded, “Nahi Mila”. Soren then turned towards an official present on the stage with him and a brief discussion, clarified that the money will be deposited into the bank account of the beneficiaries.

“Ja raha hai. Ye paisa aapko yaha nahi seedhe aapke khata me seedhe jayega (The money will be deposited in your bank accounts directly),” Soren said.

He then goes on to ask whether the girls received any benefit from ‘Savitri Bai Phule Yojna’, to which, he again received a “no” in response.

The CM was left embarrassed and summoned an official on stage to know the reason. After talking to him, he responded that the scheme was only for those who received the money.

Under the Chief Minister ‘Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana’, the state government provides financial assistance of Rs 20,000 to female students from classes 8 to 12. This amount is given in the form of a separate grant to the female students of each category.
