Madurai City Police Commissioner said Balasubramanian was hacked to death on Tuesday morning when he was walking in BB Kulam.

A senior Naam Tamilar Party (NTK) leader Balasubramanian was hacked to death in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai on Tuesday. The north district deputy secretary was reportedly attacked while he was out for a morning walk in the BB Kulam area.

Confirming the incident, the Madurai City Police Commissioner said Balasubramanian was hacked to death this morning when he was walking in BB Kulam.

Police have, however, denied political angles and said it was a revenge attack.

The incident comes around 10 days after Tamil Nadu Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Armstrong was allegedly hacked to death by six unidentified people in Chennai’s Perambur area.

The two-wheeler-borne gang attacked Armstrong, a former councillor of Chennai Corporation, near his house in Perambur inflicting grievous injuries on him, and fled.

The Bharatiya Janata Party slammed the law and order situation in the state over the murder of the politician.
