Mysuru: Two government officials in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts were raided by Anti-Corruption Bureau officers who conducted searches at their homes, offices and relatives’ houses following charges of amassing wealth beyond their known sources of income.
Vijayanagar police station inspector HN Balakrishna in Mysuru and Cheluvaraju, an excise inspector attached to Gundlupet circle in Chamarajanagar faced the searches early on Wednesday, the ACB said.
Four teams of 39 officers searched Balakrishna’s house in Vijayanagar, the police station and two places in Channarayapatna in Hassan.
This is the first time in recent memory that the ACB has raided a police station, the cops stated.
Five ACB team members raided five places belonging to excise inspector Cheluvaraju in Chamarajanagar that is his friend’s home, Bengaluru where his father-in-law lives, Mysuru which is his official residence and Ramanagar where his mother lives.
About 29 officers have raided him since early Wednesday.
