A youth who tried to sabotage the Guru Granth Sahib was murdered at the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday. The young man tried to insult the Sri Guru Granth Sahib by crossing the forest built inside the Sachkhand Sahib in the temple. The young man had also picked up the sword kept there. The servicemen present there caught the young man.
The servitors immediately handed over the youth to the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC). SGPC officials said that only the people present in the temple thrashed the youth to death. The youth is being told from Uttar Pradesh.

Rahas (recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib to be performed in the evening) was going on inside the Sachkhand Sahib in the Golden Temple at around 6 pm on Saturday. As usual, the sangat was reaching here to pay obeisance. In front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Sachkhand Sahib, there is a grille as a security and inside it only the students sit and recite. The young man in the line of the sangat reached inside the Sachkhand Sahib when it was his turn and suddenly crossed the forest guarded for protection and proceeded towards the Guru Granth Sahib.
As soon as he did this, there was a stir and the servants immediately caught him. Some people present on the spot told that the youth tried to lift the sword kept in front of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. At the same time, some people said that the young man was trying to lift flowers placed in front of Guru Granth Sahib. The servicemen present in Sachkhand caught the young man and handed him over to the task force of SGPC posted at Golden Temple. Task force members immediately took the young man out.

The gangsters demand that the body of the accused of sacrilege should be shown. The body of the sacrilege should not have been handed over to the police. On the other hand, Amritsar DCP Parminder Singh Bhandal said that the body of the deceased youth has been sent to the Civil Hospital.

The young man gave his name as Ranbir Singh. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami had demanded strict action against the accused youth from the police and a thorough investigation into the entire matter. The SGPC chief had even said that this was not a sudden incident but a well-planned conspiracy and its purpose was to spoil the atmosphere by inciting the sentiments of the Sikhs.
