The characters of Jethalal and Babita from the popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ have garnered a massive fan following over the years. Fans particularly enjoy seeing these two on screen together. However, a recent encounter with Munmun Dutta, who plays Babita, left everyone surprised by her reaction when Jethalal’s name was mentioned.

Munmun Dutta has been portraying the role of Babita Ji on the comedy show for a long time. Recently, she was spotted celebrating her mother’s birthday. When the paparazzi caught up with her, they couldn’t resist asking if she planned to invite Jethalal to the birthday celebrations. As soon as Munmun heard Jethalal’s name, her immediate response was, “Oh, come on… sometimes just let it be. The show is different from real life.” Munmun continued to pose with her mother for the cameras.

When Munmun Dutta denied engagement rumours

Earlier this year, there were rumours of Munmun Sen’s engagement with Raj Anadkat, who used to play Tappu in the sitcom. Munumn had then issued a statement rubbishing the rumours. In her statement, Munmun wrote, “Funny how FAKE news spread like wildfire and keeps coming back like a boomerang. Putting things straight again! Not Engaged. Not Married. Not Pregnant.”    


She further asserted that when the time comes for marriage, she will embrace it with courage and dignity.  

“Also, IF and WHEN I do marry, Whether a younger man or an older one I shall do it PROUDLY. Honey! That’s my Bengali genes. Always proud and brave. Joi Maa Durga,” she wrote. 

‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is among India’s longest-running television sitcom. It chronicles the lives of people living in the Gokuldham Co-operative Housing Society. The show has been running successfully for more than 16 years.
