New Delhi: A four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai’s Kurla leaving eight persons injured, said a fire brigade official on Tuesday, reported news agency PTI. A wing of the building, located in Kurla’s Naik Nagar Society, collapsed around midnight, the official said, adding the connected wing was likely to collapse. The injured were shifted to nearby Rajwadi hospital while a search operation is underway to look for more survivors, he added.
As per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) eight people have been evacuated so far from the debris and the rescue operation was on to search for more survivors trapped inside. Around 20-25 people were likely to be trapped under debris according to civic authorities’ last night data. However, there is still no confirmation about the exact number of people still trapped, said Ashish Kuma,r, Deputy Commandant of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
