Mumbai: A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against the owner of the tugboat that sunk during cyclone Tauta.

A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered in Mumbai against the owner of the Varaprada tugboat that sank in the Arabian Sea during last month’s cyclone Tauta, an official said on Friday. An official gave this information on Friday.

The barges P305 and Varaprada – both supporting ships working for state-run ONGC’s offshore oil fields near Mumbai – had borne the brunt of Cyclone Touke, which made landfall on the Gujarat coast on May 17.

“At least 11 personnel working on the tugboat were killed in the incident. Two of its personnel were rescued by naval teams during the rescue operation,” the official said.
