Mukesh Khanna On ‘Shaktimaan’ Film Being Made On 200-300 Cr Budget, Says ‘Ye Boht Bade Level Ki’

New Delhi: ‘Shaktimaan’ fans get ready to relive nostalgia. Mukesh Khanna, known for playing the iconic character in the desi superhero show for years, has given an update about the ‘Shaktimaan’ film. A film based on his Shaktimaan avatar had been announced quite a while ago but no production work began on it for the longest time. Now, the veteran has answered why there had been a delay.

Mukesh Khanna on Shaktimaan Films

Mukesh Khanna took to his YouTube channel Bheeshm to talk about the film. He said, “Contract has been signed. Ye bohot bade level ki film hai. One film would cost ₹200-300 crore and it will be made by Sony Pictures, the one, who made Spider-Man. But it kept getting delayed, first there was the (Covid-19) pandemic, I had announced it on my channel too that the film is happening, but…” Apparently, the ‘Shaktimaan’ film will be made on an international level.

Mukesh Khanna also clarified that he would not be making a revival in the film as ‘Shaktimaan’. “What I can say is I am not supposed to do any appearance in Shaktimaan’s get-up now. I have to stop because they don’t want any comparison. But the film is coming, very soon there will be a final announcement, where you will know who will be in it, who will direct it. It is being made on an international level, as it deserves to be.” He added.

Shaktimaan Trilogy

As reported by many media publications, ‘Shaktimaan’ movies will be a three-part film project. Sony Pictured India had made the announcement about the same last year. Ranveer Singh had been signed for the titular role in the film project, reportedly however, there was no confirmation from the makers or the actor.

Shaktimaan TV show

‘Shaktimaan’ began airing on national TV in September 1997 on Doordarshan channel. Many children from the 90s and 2000s grew up on it. The show starred Mukesh Khanna in the titular lead and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastriji, who worked as a photographer for the newspaper Aaj Ki Aawaz. The show still happens to be the most-viewed shows on the channel and still has a huge fan base.
