New Delhi: ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, the romantic sports drama starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, premiered on May 31 to mixed reviews. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film did more than expected at the box office and received mostly good reviews from reviewers. The story is about a couple who are ardent admirers of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a former Indian captain, who fall in love. The intentional use of a Rs 99 ticket price boosted the film’s box office success.
‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ made good use of Cinema Lovers’ Day by releasing it on that day. The ticket price for the film was only Rs 99 on Friday (May 31).
Sacnilk estimates that the film made 7 crore rupees on its first day. The film’s first weekend box office performance was excellent, with 56.15 percent occupancy in Hindi-speaking areas. However, the film’s ability to keep its momentum going will be determined by the next weekend.
Also, ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ becomes the fourth-highest opening of 2024, surpassing ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’, ‘Article 370’, and ‘Maidaan’.
