MP Election Results: Close Fight In Madhya Pradesh As Early Trends Show BJP, Congress Neck And

MP Election Results 2023: Counting for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh has begun and early trends favour the BJP as it is leading on 25 seats while Congress is ahead on 24 seats suggesting a neck and neck battle in the central state. Both parties hope to beat the other in a crucial semi-final battle ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Though this is too early to have a clear picture, but this has surely boosted the morale of workers of both parties who are closely monitoring the results at dedicated centres set up by the Election Commission in the state.

Exit polls have predicted a win for the Congress in the state but not an easy one as a close battle is highly anticipated in the state. The EVMs hold the electoral fate of 2,533 candidates, including prominent figures like Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former CM Kamal Nath, and BJP Union ministers – Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, and Faggan Singh Kulaste. 

The state witnessed a record voter turnout of 77.82 per cent (including postal ballots) during the single-phase Nov17 assembly polls, recording a 2.19 per cent increase from the 2018 elections.

Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan stated that all necessary preparations for the counting have been completed. With 692 tables designated for the counting of postal ballots and 4,369 tables for EVM counting.
