Mother deals with baby’s womb: Woman rapes minor several times with friend, sells eggs 8 times in 4 years

In Tamil Nadu, a mother raped her minor daughter and then dealt with her eggs. According to the report of Indian Express, the matter is from Salem district. Investigation revealed that the minor girl was first raped by her mother’s male friend and then her eggs were sold in hospitals. The rape victim’s mother and her male friend have been arrested.

The investigating officer said that the process of raping the girl and selling her eggs was going on since 2017. The girl was a minor at that time. In the last 4 years, more than 8 times her womb has been dealt with. After the matter came to light, the health officials of the state started counseling after talking to the girl.

Egg was sold in the hospital for 20 thousand rupees
The victim told that every time she got pregnant, she used to get 20 thousand rupees from the hospital for selling eggs. Out of this, a woman used to take 5 thousand rupees as commission and the rest was kept by the mother and her friend. This was being done twice a year.

The girl’s mother used to rape her with her male friend, her eggs were sold in hospitals when she was pregnant.

Action taken on the complaint of the victim
The victim’s parents separated 10 years ago, after which she lived with her mother at her male friend. The girl, who had been suffering from cruelty for many years, had run away from her house in May and went to her friend. The girl narrated the incident to a friend, after which her friend and some relatives together lodged a complaint with the police. The police have arrested the girl’s mother and her male friend.

The state government formed a committee to investigate
State Health Secretary told the media that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter. So far, a case has been registered under sections 420, 464, 41, 506 (ii) of IPC including POCSO Act, Aadhar misuse. In this case, the angle of the increasing case of infertility will also be examined. Here, the police say that some doctors and touts have been identified in this case. Action will be taken against them too.

Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Radhakrishnan said that we are going to conduct an investigation in the entire state regarding such cases.

Why Women’s Egg Business?
Women can donate eggs by visiting fertilization centers. This process is called egg donation. In this, doctors remove eggs from a woman’s ovary and fertilize it with sperm in the lab, after which the fetus is born. This process is called in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Who can be an Egg Donor?
According to the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) ie ART Bill, passed in December 2021, a woman aged 21 to 50, who has a child of at least 3 years, can donate the same egg. Any woman can donate egg only once. After becoming a law, its gazette notification was also done on 25 December 2021.

The trade of human embryos has been considered an offense under this law. For the first time the offense can be fined from 5 to 10 lakh rupees. After this, the offense can be imprisoned for eight to 12 years and a fine of 10 to 20 lakh rupees. Apart from this, it is mandatory for both the parties (donor and receiver) to have a written agreement.
