5. Interest on PF reduced, about 6 crore employees will be affected
About 6 crore employees of the country will now get less interest on PF. EPFO has reduced the interest rate on deposits to 8.1% instead of 8.5%. This is the lowest in the last 40 years. In 1977-78, EPFO had given 8% interest. Since then it has always been 8.25% or more. From 1989 to 1999, 12% interest was available on PF.

An Air India plane skidded off the runway at Dumna airport in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The accident happened around 1:15 pm on Saturday. Due to this, one tire of the plane got stuck in the soil on the side of the runway. There were 62 people in the plane, including 55 passengers and crew members. After this all nine flights were cancelled. DGCA has ordered to investigate the accident at 5 points.

On this day in 1940, Udham Singh took revenge for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He shot Michael O’Dwyer, who was the Governor General of Punjab at the time of the massacre, in London. Dyer was then present at an event. He was returning to the seat after finishing his speech. Then Udham Singh, who was present there, took out the revolver hidden in the book and fired two bullets at Dyer. After this Udham Singh was arrested. Udham Singh was hanged on 31 July 1940.
