modi: Cong, Channi Plotted To Kill Pm In Punjab: Sarma | Guwahati News – Times of India

Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Wire on Wednesday alleged that Congress high command along with Punjab chief minister hatched a conspiracy to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 5 in Punjab and demanded that his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Singh Channi be arrested.
Modi, who had landed in Bathinda in Punjab on January 5 and had to take the road route to Hussainiwala in Ferozepur because of inclement weather on Wednesday, was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes due to a blockade by some farmers, an incident the Union home ministry described as a “major lapse” in his security.
Sarma held a press conference here where, referring to a sting operation by an unnamed TV channel, he said, “The event was well-planned conspiracy. It was not spontaneous but a sponsored one with the sole objective to kill the Prime Minister.”
Sarma said in the sting operation, a DSP of Punjab CID Sukhdev Singh is seen saying that he had the wind of the protest and protestors’ plan with the intention to disrupt the PM’s tour and accordingly he informed the SSP. “The officer informed that it was not farmers but Khalistanis who were waiting to disrupt the tour,” Sarma said. “All evidence makes it clear that Congress high command and Punjab CM conspired to kill PM Modi,” he added.
Sarma said, “Even the SHO of the local police station has corroborated in the sting operation that there was no instruction from the higher-ups on how to deal with the protestors. Due to bad weather, helicopter travel was dropped and the road route was taken and this information was passed to the Khalistani protesters.”
