Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik addressing a program in Nuh, Haryana.

Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has been vocal about the issue of farmers. Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that MSP is not being implemented in the country because a friend of the Prime Minister, whose name is Adani, became Asia’s richest man within the last 5 years.

Satya Pal Malik said that the farmers of the country could never be defeated and he would continue his protest till their demands were met. The Governor of Meghalaya had reached the Veer Bhagat Singh Gaushala in Nuh, Haryana on Sunday to attend the program. Satyapal Malik said that if MSP is not implemented and legal guarantee is not given, then there will be another fight and this time it is going to be a fierce fight.

He said that you cannot defeat the farmer of this country, because if you cannot send ED or Income Tax department officials, then how will you scare the farmers. He said that the investigating agencies should not be misused. There should be a fair investigation. I can count the names of 8-10 people in BJP itself. Agencies should be allowed to function fairly.

Adani stocked wheat by building a warehouse in Panipat

Satyapal Malik said that Adani has built a big godown in Panipat and also stocked it with wheat purchased at cheap prices. When there is inflation, then we will sell that wheat. Friends of such PM will earn profits and farmers will suffer. A big fight will be fought against it.

The story of Guwahati airport narrated

Satyapal also narrated an anecdote from Guwahati airport. Satyapal Malik said that whenever I go anywhere, I go from Guwahati airport only. Once I met a woman holding a bouquet at the Guwahati airport. When I asked where he was from, he replied, We have come from Adani’s side. I asked what does it mean. He said that this airport has been handed over to Adani. Adani has been given airport, port, major plans and in a way, it is ready to sell the country. But we won’t let that happen.

Repeated meeting with PM

Satya Pal Malik reiterated his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the farmers’ movement. He said that I had met the Prime Minister and said that I saw that farmers were sitting on the borders of Delhi. I told the PM that each of them was the head of 40 villages, 700 farmers were killed. When a dog dies, condolence messages are sent from Delhi. No condolence message was sent for the farmers. Satya Pal Malik said that later all the three black agricultural laws brought against the farmers had to be withdrawn and apologies had to be made.
