‘Medium Of Bribe And Commission’: Rahul Gandhi’s Swipe At BJP-Led Centre After SC’s Verdict On

Electoral Bonds Verdict: After the Supreme Court on Thursday struck down the Electoral Bonds scheme as unconstitutional, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government and said that the saffron party made electoral bonds a medium for taking bribe and commission. The apex court said that the Electoral Bonds scheme is violative of Article 19(1)(a). 

In a post on X, the Wayanad MP said, “Another proof of Narendra Modi’s corrupt policies is in front of you. BJP had made electoral bonds a medium for taking bribe and commission. Today this has been approved.

On the apex court’s verdict on the Electoral Bond scheme, Congress MP Manish Tiwari said, “SC decision should be welcomed by all right-minded people who believe in probity in public life… Supreme court ordering the SBI, the operator of Electoral Bonds Scheme to provide all the data to the Election Commission and the EC to publish it on its website is a welcome decision.”

On the verdict, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said, “So we’ll get to know the bonding between those who funded and the politics of the country and also you will get to know the Quid pro quo because nobody gives these huge amounts of money without a Quid pro quo. Nobody would give an electoral bond for ten lakhs or 15 lakhs. It’ll be in crores. So if you’ve funded your political party with 5000 crores you can imagine only the rich could have done that and they must have in the process got some favours…So I think in a sense this provides for a level playing field in a democracy. And it also exposes the BJP. The prime minister keeps on saying where is the scam? Where is the scam? Where it is now Modiji right in front of your eyes your scam, this government scam.”
