While the Jimny has been sold in various international markets for many years, Maruti has been showcasing it in India for the past five years.
On the second day of Auto Expo, Maruti launched its off roader SUV Jimny. Jimny is present in the international market since many years. Maruti has been showing it in India at different events for the last five years, but it has finally been launched in 2023. 4 wheel drive and 5 door version of Jimny has been brought in India.
Maruti Jimny has been launched in seven colours, it also has a touchscreen infotainment system.
Maruti has also started booking the Jimny. The company will sell it through its premium dealership Nexa. Customers can book it by paying Rs 11,000. Maruti says that the Jimny will be seen on the roads in the first quarter of this year.
The Jimny off roader car will be given a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder K15B petrol engine.
The car will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder K-15-B petrol engine. It will generate 101 BHP power at 6,000 RPM and 130 NM torque at 4,000 RPM. The car will get 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. The SUV will also get auto LED headlamps with washer and state of the art entertainment system. Jimny has been launched in seven colours.
Tata releases country’s first twin cylinder CNG system
Tata has come up with CNG versions of Altroz and Punch. You might be thinking that boot space is not available in CNG vehicles, so Tata has made arrangements for the same. For the first time in the country, Tata has brought twin cylinder system of CNG, in which CNG has two small tanks instead of one. These can be fitted below the floor, so that there is no reduction in the luggage space in the boot.
In the twin cylinder CNG system, both the gas cylinders fit under the boot space, leaving no room for luggage.
Maruti also launched premium SUV Franks
Maruti has also launched the premium SUV Franks along with the Jimny. Keeping in mind the youth, it has been launched with a 1.2 liter petrol engine in a sporty look. The company claims that the features of the Frox make it ideal for lifestyle customers. The car will be available at Nexa dealerships. Its booking has started. Like the Jimny, it can be booked for Rs 11,000.

MG showed a car running on hydrogen fuel
At the beginning of the second day at the expo, MG launched the hydrogen fuel-powered car Unique-7 (Euniq 7). The P390 fuel cell has been given in this car. The company says that refueling its 6.4-litre tank will take just three minutes. At the same time, its range with full tank is said to be 605 KM. The company has described it as important for clean mobility.

Gadkari said – focus on electric vehicles to deal with pollution
The Auto Expo was formally inaugurated on Thursday. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said in this that pollution is a big problem in the country. 30% of the fossil fuel i.e. petrol-diesel used in the world is consumed only in India. To reduce this, one has to go to electric vehicles.
Gadkari said that the government is making 26 green highways for electric vehicles. Electric vehicles will benefit from this. There is a need to run electric buses to promote public transport. The logistics cost in India for transporters is 60% while in China it is only 8 to 10%. LNG trucks have arrived in the country. It will have 40% less logistic cost as compared to diesel truck.
In the inaugural program of Auto Expo, Gadkari talked about promoting flexi fuel.
If you work on London’s transport model, it will be beneficial.
The Union Minister said that the cost per kilometer of electric non-AC bus is Rs 39 and that of AC bus is Rs 41. And the per kilometer cost of diesel bus comes to Rs 115. We have to work on London’s transport model.
Talking about flexi fuel, Gadkari said that Annadata will become our energy provider. With the help of Russian technology, vehicles will be able to run on ethanol like petrol. Ethanol comes for 60 to 62 rupees a litre, while the price of petrol is twice that.

- Tata introduces Sierra, Curve, Avinya and Harrier EV : The showstopper on Day 1 of the Auto Expo was the Tata Sierra EV concept car, which the company unveiled after 22 years. The basic design has been retained in the electric avatar of the SUV as well. Tata also introduced the electric SUV Curve. Also introduced the electric version of SUV Harrier and Avinya Premium EV.
Tata Curve has been launched as an electric SUV, which means it does not have petrol-diesel versions.
- Shahrukh Khan arrived to launch Ionic-5: The center of attraction on the first day of the show was Shahrukh Khan, who had arrived to launch the electric SUV Ionic-5. The company has kept the initial price of the car at Rs 44.95 lakh, which can increase according to the variant. Apart from this, Hyundai also introduced IONIC-6 and Nexo in its pavilion.

- Maruti showcases electric SUV EVX: Maruti unveiled its first electric SUV concept EVX. EVX is the first offering from Maruti in the EV segment.

- MG introduced the first MPV in the world : MG Motors introduced the world’s first electric MPV. It has been named MIFA-9 (Mifa-9). MG has also launched electric SUVs MG-4 and MG-5. These vehicles will get a range of 525 KM in a single charge. Apart from these, MG-EHS has also been launched. The company also introduced the facelift of its premium car Hector.

- Kia KA-4 and EV-9 luxury concepts: Kia Motors has introduced two electric cars named Kio KA-4 and EV-9 on the future mobility concept. Of these, the EV-9 was also introduced at the Los Angeles Motor Show. Kia has now introduced this international model in India. Kia will start production of this EV this year itself.
Kia has said that the electric SUV is based on the KA-4 future mobility concept.
Entry for common people from 13 to 18 January
Auto Expo Motor Show is being organized at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. It has been named ‘The Motor Show’. In this, 11 and 12 January are reserved for the media. Common people will be able to visit the expo from 13 to 18 January. Timing will be from 11 am to 8 pm.
Different ticket price per day
If you want to attend this event, then you have to take a ticket for it. Ticket prices vary by day. On January 13, its price has been kept at Rs 750. Only one person gets entry on one ticket. Many big auto makers are not involved in the event
This time the luxury vehicle companies Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have not participated in the event along with Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda, Volkswagen and Nissan. Apart from this, the presence of major two-wheeler companies such as Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company is limited to the display of their ‘flex fuel’ prototype vehicles in the ethanol pavilion.
