Mangaluru: CBI arrests three in breakup of fake medical certificate from Railway Health Unit – Rail Hunt

Bangalore. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday, June 10, raided the Railway Health Unit located near Mangaluru Central Station and arrested three persons, including the Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, for their involvement in a fake medical certificate breakup. It is said that more than 1500 fake medical certificates have been issued for Southern Railway, South Western Railway and Konkan Railway since one year in organized racket.

The CBI has arrested Additional Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Shivshankar Murthy, Pharmacist Vijayan VA and Dalal Ibrahim. The CBI team has also seized 1500 pages of documents from the health unit. From here, fake certificates were issued to licensed vendors, porters, housekeeping staff on platforms and caterers in trains. According to railway rules, they have to submit fitness medical certificate every year only then they are allowed to work.

It is said that with the help of a broker from Mangaluru Railway Unit, the people of the health unit used to provide medical certificates as per the requirement on WhatsApp itself. For this, medical certificate was issued immediately after taking Aadhar card. It is learned that online payment of Rs 525 was also taken in this item. Issuance of medical certificate without any investigation is illegal and fake.

The great thing is that despite having railway hospitals in SR and SWR, many people used to make fitness certificate from Mangaluru health unit for their convenience and ease. The CBI was keeping an eye on the complaints received. After this, the CBI team has laid a trap and arrested the responsible people. Further investigation is going on.
