Man Stabs Son To Death, Held | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: A 50-year-old man stabbed his 22-year-old son to death in Thudiyalur here on Monday.
Police identified the deceased as M Shahjahan of Anjeneyar Temple Street at Thoppampatti, an autorickshaw driver. He was staying with father M Mohammed Rafiqmother Umera40, and two younger brothers.
“Mohammed was paralysed for the last 12 years and had started to walk six months ago. Shahjahan, an alcoholic, frequently bunked work. Umera, a housekeeping staff at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH), was running the household with the help of her 17-year-old son,” a police officer said.
“Shahjahan often demanded money from his mother to buy liquor. On Monday around 1am, when a drunk Shahjahan demanded money again, Umera refused. In a fit of rage, Shahjahan tried to stab her with a knife. Mohammed snatched the knife and stabbed him. He died on the spot,” the officer said. “Shahjahan was facing a robbery case and an assault case.”
The Thudiyalur police sent the body to CMCH for autopsy. Police registered a case against Mohammed under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him on Monday.
