Man Shoots Dead Sister For Asking Him To Quit Drinking, Held | Noida News – Times of India

Greater Noida: A Roja Jalalpur resident was arrested on Saturday for allegedly shooting dead his 32-year-old sister for objecting to his drinking habits. Police recovered a country-made pistol purportedly used for the crime.
Assistant commissioner of police (Central Noida) Yogendra Singh said they had received a call on Dial 112 helpline around 12 am on Saturday. The caller said that a woman, interestwas shot at by his brother, Surajfollowing a quarrel over his drinking habit. “The caller told us that the accused, Suraj, 21, fled the spot after the crime,” Singh said. The woman, who was taken to a nearby hospital after the incident, was declared brought dead.
“Ruchi’s family has claimed that Suraj returned home on Friday evening in an inebriated state and vomited a few times. Ruchi, they told us, often scolded him for being a habitual drinker, and on Friday night, too, admonished him. It allegedly led to a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Suraj allegedly wiped out a gun and shot Ruchi,” the ACP said.
The 21-year-old was arrested from the Shahberi area of Greater Noida following a tip-off on Saturday afternoon. He was booked under IPC Section 302 (murder) and relevant sections of the Arms Act. “We have recovered a 32 bore country-made pistol, along with a live cartridge and two magazines. Suraj was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody,” the officer said.
