Mammootty On Ban On Sreenath Bhasi For Verbally Abusing Anchor: ‘Nobody Should Be Denied Work’

New Delhi: Malayalam superstar Mammootty has spoken against the reported ban on actor Sreenath Bhasi imposed by The Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) after he was arrested for hurling abuses at a woman anchor during an interview. After Sreenath’s arrest, The Kerala Film Producers’ Association had announced that it won’t cooperate with Sreenath Bhasi for the time being.

In a media interaction, Mammootty who has worked with Bhasi in Bheeshma Parvam, said that it is wrong to deny people work. “There should be no ban on anybody. Why should we deny someone’s daily bread? Denying somebody work is wrong,” he was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

According to a report in The Hindu, a senior representative of KFPA said that the association has not banned Bhasi. “We would like to clarify that the association has not imposed a ban on Mr. Bhasi as we do not have the powers to deny work to anyone,” he was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

As per the report, the senior representative explained that the decision was not to work with Bhasi for the time being.

Bhasi reportedly lost his cool while being interviewed after probing questions were put before him at an interview which was done in the course of promoting his latest film, ‘Chattambi’.

After sensing trouble, he later apologised by saying that he has not abused anyone and just responded in a way that every person would when insulted and emphatically said he has done no wrong.

Bhasi began as a radio jockey and then turned a video jockey and it was in 2011 that he made his film debut in the blockbuster film ‘Pranayam’ directed by Blessy and starring Mohanlal and Anupam Kher. After that there was no looking back, so far he has acted in around 50 films.
