- Malegaon Blast Case: The Bike Used In The Blast Was Brought To The Court; Judges, Lawyers And Experts Inspected,

In the Malegaon blast case, the bike used in the blast was brought to the court on Tuesday. Judge AK Lahoti along with forensic experts, witnesses and lawyers inspected the motorcycle. The LML Freedom bike, which was in the name of BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, was used in the blast.
On 29 September 2008, a bomb blast took place in Malegaon in Nashik district of Maharashtra. In this 7 people were killed, about 100 people were injured. The blast took place when people were going to offer Namaz during Ramzan.
Six people were killed and over 100 were injured in the Malegaon bomb blasts.
Decide expeditiously on Purohit’s plea: SC
The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Bombay High Court to expeditiously decide the plea of Malegaon blast case accused Lt Col Prasad Purohit. Lt Purohit has sought cancellation of sanction to prosecute him. Purohit says that the approval given by the government to run the case was legally wrong.
On July 13, the NIA told the Bombay High Court that as on July 12, out of a total of 495 witnesses, 256 witnesses had been examined. Witnesses from the rest will be questioned soon.
They have been made accused in the case
The accused in the case include BJP leader Pragya Singh Thakur, Lt Col Shrikant Prasad Purohit, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Major Ramesh Upadhyay (Retd), Ajay Rahirkar, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Sudhakar Chaturvedi and Sameer Kulkarni, who are out on bail.
On 25 April 2017, the Bombay High Court granted conditional bail to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.
Hemant Karkare harassed him: Witness
During the hearing, the witness complained that he was tortured by the Maharashtra ATS, especially the then chief Hemant Karkare. Thereafter, the prosecution declared the accused a criminal.
Sadhvi Pragya had said about Hemant Karkare that those who are patriots do not consider them patriots.

7 including Sadhvi Pragya got bail in April 2017: In the Malegaon blast case itself, accused Pragya Thakur and her 6 associates were granted bail by the Bombay High Court in April 2017. Pragya was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh. Then the court had said that prima facie, no case is made out against Sadhvi. The court had also said that Sadhvi Pragya is a woman and has been in jail for more than eight years. She has breast cancer and has become weak, unable to walk without support.
