Maharashtra: Kalyan-Dombivli civic commissioner tests positive for Covid-19 | Thane News – Times of India

KALYAN: Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi has tested positive for coronavirus, a civic official said on Wednesday.
Suryawanshi’s RT-PCR report on Wednesday came out to be positive for the infection. He has a mild fever and is currently under home isolation at his residence in Kalyan.
Civic sources said that Suryawanshi, after taking a booster dose of vaccine on January 10, was experiencing mild symptoms. Earlier, he thought the fever could be a reaction to the booster dose.
However, when the fever did not subside, he got himself tested on Tuesday and the report on Wednesday came out to be positive.
A senior KDMC health official said that so far in this third wave, around 75 staffers of KDMC, including the commissioner and health officer Dr Pratibha Panpatil, have tested Covid-19 positive.
The Covid-19 cases in the twin cities of Kalyan and Dombivli have been rising rapidly. On Wednesday, the cities collectively reported 1,646 new cases of Covid-19 and three deaths, taking the tally of patients to 1,56,327, including 2,861 deaths.
