The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to release its second list for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections soon. According to sources, the second list may contain names of all the seats that the saffron camp lost in the last assembly elections.

The reports came after the BJP’s Central Election Committee held a high-level meeting on Wednesday to decide on a roadmap for the seats that the BJP failed to win in the last assembly elections. The second list is likely to have around 35-40 seats.

Earlier on Monday, a high-level meeting of top brass was held in Delhi. It was attended by BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, State BJP President VD Sharma, and State Organization Secretary Hitanand Sharma.

For the unversed, the party released its first list of candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections on August 17.

The CEC met last month and named candidates for 39 seats for the polls in Madhya Pradesh and 21 for Chhattisgarh. These were for the seats where the BJP does not have incumbent MLAs.

Assembly polls are due in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram in November-December, the last round of state elections before the Lok Sabha contest in 2024.

The BJP is in power in Madhya Pradesh while the Congress is in power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The BRS is in power in Telangana while the Mizo National Front runs the government in Mizoram.
